We decided that, in our kitchen, we were going to follow the rules of tradition, as we learned them from Maria de Lourdes Modesto's books. Here, there is no place for inventions, creations or deconstructions.
We are from the time of our grandparents and we remain completely given over to Pastéis de Bacalhau (Cod Cakes), Rissóis de Leitão (Suckling Pig Rissoles), Açorda (Panada) and Pica-Pau (Spicy Quick-Fry). This everyday food takes us back to our childhoods and to flavours that everyone here knows so well. As in any Portuguese home, the table is always laid and the doors open to whoever comes to visit. We take care of the rest.
We are the kind of place that lovers of traditional Portuguese cuisine just can’t resist. Our Dishes of the Day, Snacks and Main Courses are a paean to family recipes from north to south and leave those who visit us wondering if we have used the same recipe book they have at home. We serve with tradition, with unique cocktails made of Amarguinha, Ginginha or Moscatel. These pay tribute to our flavours and traditions, which we want to help everyone get to know.
